About

An independent site about one Bluetooth feature, written by someone who installs the gear for a living.

Who

Auracast News is written and run by Shane Herbert, an AV and IT integrator in Sydney, Australia, with a fleet of meeting rooms to look after and a long-running interest in what happens when audio stops needing a cable.

Why

Auracast is the first change to Bluetooth audio in twenty years that matters to people who are not audio enthusiasts: it is how hearing aids will join a theatre's sound, how airports will stop shouting, and how a family will share one TV at four volumes. The information about it is scattered across press releases, forum threads and a trademark holder's directory. This site puts it in one place, with a status on every product we would stand behind in a shop.

How it is paid for

Through commissions on things you buy after following a link here, and eventually through venue listings and sponsorship, all labelled. The disclosure page spells it out. We have no financial relationship with any hearing-aid manufacturer, and no manufacturer sees a review before it is published.

Where

Sydney, Australia. Prices are shown in Australian and US dollars where we can find both; venues are listed Australia first because nobody else does.

Corrections

If a status on this site is wrong, tell us and we will fix it and say so on the page. Every product entry shows the date its status was last checked.
